    Exploring the Influence of the Evidence-Based Reasoning Model in the Inquiry Approach to Enhancing Students' Scientific Reasoning

    Scientific reasoning becomes a prerequisite skill for studying science. The fact is that this ability, especially at the junior high school level, is relatively low. One learning model that can be applied to overcome this problem is inquiry-based, evidence-based reasoning. This type of research is a one-group pretest-posttest design with a sample of 102 students taken by the purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a two-tier multiple-choice test based on scientific reasoning indicators. The results of the study were analyzed using the N-gain test, and a value of 0.6 was obtained, or it could be concluded that there was an increase in students' scientific reasoning in the moderate category. An ANOVA test was also carried out, and a significance value of 0.258 > 0.05 was obtained, which indicated that there was no significant difference between groups or that the EBR model had a consistent impact on increasing students' scientific reasoning. Each indicator of scientific reasoning also experienced an increase in the moderate category. The existence of this research can be of particular concern to educators as they continue to train scientific reasoning abilities in various natural science materials so that a scientific mindset is formed in students

    This research aimed to reduce student’s misconceptions on fluid subject at Science Education program study, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo (Umsida) by applying a modified free inquiry learning model. The results showed that the students’ understanding of concepts increased from the average score 21.3 to 68.3. Based on the data analysis using N-gain score, it could be concluded that the implementation of the modified free inquiry model averagely affected on reducing the studen’s misconception

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan literasi sains awal mahasiswa semester tiga program studi pendidikan IPA di Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo. Tes literasi sains disusun berdasarkan soal PISA 2012 sejumlah 5 pertanyaan yang diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Indonesia oleh pakar. Hasil yang diperoleh dianalisis dan dideskripsikan berdasarkan empat kategori yaitu nominal, fungsional, prosedural, dan multidimensional. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan awal literasi sains mahasiswa masih banyak pada kategori nominal dan fungsional yaitu sebesar 39% dan 36% mahasiswa. Pada kategori konseptual/prosedural terdapat 20% mahasiswa. Sedangkan pada kategori multidimensional masih 4%. 1% mahasiswa tidak memberikan jawaban pada tes literasi sains yang diberika

    The purpose of this study was to determine the existence of an increase in learning through the 5E Cycle model on Science Process Skills in Science Subjects of grade V SD Muhammadiyah 8 Tulangan. The type of research used is pre-experimental quantitative research with a one-group pretest posttest design. The population used in the study was all fifth grade students of SD Muhammadiyah 8 Tulangan consisting of 2 classes with a total of 59 students. The research sample taken was one class of fifth grade students of SD Muhammadiyah 8 Tulangan which amounted to 28 students. The sampling technique used was Purpovise sampling. The research instrument used was the KPS test. The data analysis technique in this study used the paired t-test formula. The results stated that the use of the 5E cycle learning model on KPS in science subjects showed an increase. Based on the results of the normalized gain score shows the average pretest results before treatment value of 43.04 and the average posttest results after treatment to 72.21. Thus, with the implementation of the 5E cycle learning model on students' KPS in science subjects, there was an increase in the average value of 115.25 with an N-Gain score of 1.52
